IBA and LUMS are one of the best business schools in Pakistan. These two are even recognised across Asia. It's a dream of many students to pursue business education at one of these schools.
IBA, Karachi has its own repute of being the oldest business school outside North America. It has been pretty successful in maintaining its standard since then. It offers 4-years BBA, BBA(MIS),BS and BCS degrees. It's graduate degrees consist of 2-years MBA and MBA(MIS) degrees.
LUMS, Lahore has been established in 1985. But it has built it's reputation in quite a short span of time. It offers B.Sc Accounting and Finance, Economics and several other disciplines. It also offers MBA degree at graduate level.

id choose lums over iba anyday

seems like a more wholesome and relaxed place
iba campus is crowded, lums faculty is better
but iba has one edge over luma, it really pushes u to the hilt and grinds u so much that u r prepared very well for the local market. its extremely competitve, cut throat competition, and it sharpens ur street skills and smartens u...lums is a more mummy daddy type cushioned environment

ReplyDeletei personally feel that IBA is better in terms of preparing you for the market though i agree that at the moment LUMS has better facilities though i must say the new dean at IBA is doing a fantastic job and IBA will catch in that regard

ReplyDeleteIBA all the way! I decided to go IBA. And in retrospect it was a wise decision. IBA is high pressured environment which really churns out the best in you.

If u wanna do MBA, than LUMS has no comparison, it is simply "the best"
ReplyDeleteAll say about the IBA workload and LUMS easy environment, that may be true for undergrad courses, but believe me for MBA, LUMS workload is even much much more than IBA, n combined with all the other facilities and teaching methodology, LUMS is another class.
I am a student at LUMS and studying a semester abroad as LUMS exchange student with two other class mates, but I have found it wayyyy more easy to survive here than at LUMS. more than 20 nationals have joined me in this university and its ranking is in top 50 unis of the world, buttt our fellow students and teachers here really wonder at our intellectual abilities and confidence, and i truely believe that this is all due to LUMS grooming.
At the same time, I believe that IBA is equally good and contributing to the nation and country. My best wishes for both the institutes.
But if ever I have to choose again, I'll go for LUMS no matter what.
